I am gona get a oil change today . This automechanic told me yesterday that he charges 24.99 , but he will only charge me 20.00.
I have alot of payments to do , like credit cards , car payment , insurance and so on..

How do I keep from getting ripped off when I get an oil change?
I feel molested every time I leave JiffyLube with all of the 'filters' and 'fluid changes' charged to me.How do I keep from getting ripped off when I get an oil change?Have them show you a new VS your filters, and follow the recommended fluid changes in your owners manual. You cannot tell by looking if coolant, transmission,reae differential fluids are bad. follow the maint schedules, or have them show yuo where they are getting the schedule they are following. Once my 50000 mile free maintenance is up, I am not inclined to be doing an oil change at a BMW dealership (it is very expensive). My neighborhood mechanic is willing to do it, but he doesn't know how to reset the oil change reminder gauge. The 5 bar gauge that gradually disappears until 15,000 mile is up and reminds you your next oil change is due. Create a short between pins 7 and 19, hold this in position for 5 seconds for an oil service, or 10 seconds for an Inspection. See the picture below - looking at the orientation of the %26quot;pacman%26quot; helps.
Take off the piece of wire and turn off the ignition. When you turn the ignition back on you will see the service lights are all green bars.
One way to make a jumper is to use a 16 gauge wire, stripped on the ends, twisted and then folded over once to make it thicker. Just make sure you don't touch any of the other pins when one is already connected.
The light reset is done not just by time of %26quot;jump%26quot; of the pins but by breaking the circuit after the correct time. To reset Oil Service lights engage for approximately 5-6 seconds then release. For the Inspection lights, engage for approximately 10-12 seconds then release.

I am doing a survey to see how many people would use this service.I have been to walmart and jiffy lube and had to wait 2 hours to get a oil change.So i decided to reserach this idea and found a company that offer a van,equipment and training for 15,000.With tihis service we will come to you.Our customers would be individuals,business complexes and small fleets.We would offer the same service as jiffy or walmart but the difference

Also, buy a Mobil One filter. Go to a Quicky lube at closing time and offer the guy that works there $15-20 if he changes the oil for you. Then there is no waste, and you can drive for one full year without having to do it again. Your MPG's will go up and you will save $$$$. How do I reset the oil change reminder on my Chevrolet 2004 Monte Carlo LS?
It's a non-dedicated (the battery light shows up in the same square when the key is on and the engine off) orange square light about 1%26quot; square that is in the instrument cluster and there are absolutely no switches for it. Starting with the key off, turn it to the run position where all your dash lights come on (do not start) when your dash lights come on you have 5 seconds to push the gas pedal all the way to the floor 3 times and wait a few seconds and then turn the key to the off position, and then start it up, it should be gone!
Now there are a few that when you are done hitting the pedal 3 times and wait a few seconds, you do not turn the key off position, you just leave it in the run position and then go ahead and start it up.
But that will take of it. Please don't forget to vote!

I'm sticking with every 3,000 for economy's sake. You'll have less trouble and repairs in the long run. When you take it in for the oil change, don't fall for the sale pitches trying to get you to change your brake fluid, steering fluid, and stuff you know you don't need. The owner's manual gives you the scoop on all that.
If you keep all receipts on oil changes and repairs, it's also easier to get more money out of your car when you decide to sell it. It is best to prime the oil filter prior to installing on the vehicle, this also goes to gasoline engines (some designs do not allow this due to filter position).
As for oil and filter... follow the owners manual. Generally, most diesels use 15w40 oil, brand name filters are recommended.
A second option is to use synthetic diesel oil. It is about twice the cost, but you can double your oil change interval. If you stick to the OEM recommended interval... don't waste your money on synthetic fluids.
The last thing that no one yet mentioned... It is highly recommended you change you fuel filter on every oil change. Your fuel filter is just-as or more important then the engine oil change in a diesel motor. The fuel filter protects all your injection pump and injector components. There are no special tools other than a 10mm and 14mm socket, oil filter wrench, oil drain pan and knowing order on what to remove in order to reach %26amp; remove the filter. Also I recommend you inquiring and knowing which local service stations or area recycling facilities accept used motor oil.
Additionally I recommend always using genuine Toyota oil filters and don't forget to drain the ATF fluid every 25K to 30K miles.

So, your filter should have had two gaskets included, and you will only be using the larger gasket for the housing. Put some clean oil on the gasket before re-installing the filter housing with the new filter inside. This prevents the gasket from tearing and prevents you from losing all your oil. There's also a drain plug gasket that you can get at the Toyota parts counter. This should also be replaced with every oil change. You can buy them in bulk at Toyota so you don't have to go back each time. This makes it sound much harder than it is. After the first time, you'll know what you're doing, just don't undershoot when refilling the oil. Depending on the vehicle, the 2GR takes somewhere between 5.25 and 6.25 quarts. You can buy them in bulk at Toyota so you don't have to go back each time. This makes it sound much harder than it is. After the first time, you'll know what you're doing, just don't undershoot when refilling the oil. Depending on the vehicle, the 2GR takes somewhere between 5.25 and 6.25 quarts. to change oil get an oil pan jack some oil flush, oil, oil filter, then drive home put the motor flush in your oil, run it for five minutes, it will remove all the gunk and build of in the oil (dont drive around with motor flush in your oil!) jack it up, let it cool down for a little bit or the oil will burn you, take the plug out of the oil pan, drain it, take off the oil filter, then replace, put the plug back in fill the oil back up and your done.
for other maintenance just buy the book its easier to understand then on here, and there are detailed pictures on whats what.

1) Go to an online parts dealer, Ronayers.com, mineolamoto.com, etc. Locate your particular make and model in the online fiche. Find the oil filter, for my bike it was located on the Oil Pan diagram.
2) Print that out.
3) Highlight the price of an oil filter.
4) Go to your local Yamaha dealer. If your local dealer has a website, print out the oil filter diagram there.
5) Walk up to the parts counter, and ask for an oil filter for your bike. The parts guy will hand it over and tell you it's $13.
6) Ask him why the website says the price is $8, and if he'll sell it to you for $8.
* Last night at the parts counter, the guy charged me $13, which I thought was excessive, so I went to their very own website, and the price is listed in there as $8.22. I'm going to call them in a little bit and complain.
7) Go to Wal Mart or auto parts store. Buy 1 gallon of Shell Rotella 15w40 oil, a funnel, some mechanics hand cleaner, and a roll of paper towels. A catch (drain) pan, and oil filter wrench are helpful, but not required. Bring the replacement filter in to find the correct size filter wrench, if you decide to get one. This stuff will usually be cheaper at Wal Mart. Buy some sockets too, if you don't already have them.
8) Go home. Find the oil plug. This will be a bolt (usually 13/16%26quot;) on the bottom of the oil pan. That's going to be at the bottom of the engine. If you're having trouble finding the exact location of the plug, go back to one of those online parts fiches. You can find it there.
9) Find some sort of basin or container that has a minimum capacity of 1 gallon.
10) Put that under the oil pan. If you got that drain pan, use that.
11) Take the drain plug off.
12) Try not to drop it in the drain pan.
13) Look at it. There'll be a magnet on the top of the part that was in the oil pan. That will have tiny metal shavings and metal dust on it. Wipe it clean on a paper towel.
14) When the oil draining slows, get on the bike and rock it back and forth.
15) Put the plug back in when there's no more oil coiming out.
16) Take out the new filter.
17) Look at it.
18) Look around your bike and find the filter thats on there already.
19) Put the catch (drain) pan under the filter.
20) Take it off.
21) Dump out the oil that's in there into the catch pan.
22) If you managed to get that filter off without having it covered in oil, put it in the box the replacement filter came in. Otherwise, put it in a plastic supermarket bag first.
23) Find out how much oil you're supposed to put in. This will usually be between 3 and 4 quarts.
24) Find the fill cap, usually located on the right hand side of the bike, on the transmission.
25) Take off the cap.
26) Put the funnel in.
27) Fill it up with oil. Don't overfill.
28) Take the used oil and filter down to jiffy lube or a mechanics shop. They're required by law in NY state to take used oil from anyone.
29) Go drink a beer.

2) Print that out.
3) Highlight the price of an oil filter.
4) Go to your local Yamaha dealer. If your local dealer has a website, print out the oil filter diagram there.
5) Walk up to the parts counter, and ask for an oil filter for your bike. The parts guy will hand it over and tell you it's $13.
6) Ask him why the website says the price is $8, and if he'll sell it to you for $8.
* Last night at the parts counter, the guy charged me $13, which I thought was excessive, so I went to their very own website, and the price is listed in there as $8.22. I'm going to call them in a little bit and complain.
7) Go to Wal Mart or auto parts store. Buy 1 gallon of Shell Rotella 15w40 oil, a funnel, some mechanics hand cleaner, and a roll of paper towels. A catch (drain) pan, and oil filter wrench are helpful, but not required. Bring the replacement filter in to find the correct size filter wrench, if you decide to get one. This stuff will usually be cheaper at Wal Mart. Buy some sockets too, if you don't already have them.
8) Go home. Find the oil plug. This will be a bolt (usually 13/16%26quot;) on the bottom of the oil pan. That's going to be at the bottom of the engine. If you're having trouble finding the exact location of the plug, go back to one of those online parts fiches. You can find it there.
9) Find some sort of basin or container that has a minimum capacity of 1 gallon.
10) Put that under the oil pan. If you got that drain pan, use that.
11) Take the drain plug off.
12) Try not to drop it in the drain pan.
13) Look at it. There'll be a magnet on the top of the part that was in the oil pan. That will have tiny metal shavings and metal dust on it. Wipe it clean on a paper towel.
14) When the oil draining slows, get on the bike and rock it back and forth.
15) Put the plug back in when there's no more oil coiming out.
16) Take out the new filter.
17) Look at it.
18) Look around your bike and find the filter thats on there already.
19) Put the catch (drain) pan under the filter.
20) Take it off.
21) Dump out the oil that's in there into the catch pan.
22) If you managed to get that filter off without having it covered in oil, put it in the box the replacement filter came in. Otherwise, put it in a plastic supermarket bag first.
23) Find out how much oil you're supposed to put in. This will usually be between 3 and 4 quarts.
24) Find the fill cap, usually located on the right hand side of the bike, on the transmission.
25) Take off the cap.
26) Put the funnel in.
27) Fill it up with oil. Don't overfill.
28) Take the used oil and filter down to jiffy lube or a mechanics shop. They're required by law in NY state to take used oil from anyone.
29) Go drink a beer.

Also, drive bike beforehand to heat oil. But make sure you don't burn yourself on hot parts. It's easier to take off the oil filter off when it cools a bit (make sure there's a pan underneath to catch the oil from this as well.) Pour used oil into old plastic milk jugs or other transparent bottle, use funnel to get oil into container (cut off 2-Liter bottle as funnel) Take used motor oil to autoparts store like Kragen (call beforehand to find out if they accept it - there should be no charge). Keep paper towels handy for cleanup.

How do you change the oil on a Buell Blast (2001)?
I can't afford to have the oil changed, and it's leaking a little bit at a time, and I need to know how to change it...maybe not drain and replace with entirely new oil (if it's possible not to drain it), I just need a temporary fix until I have money to get the leak fixed. You can tell me how to drain the oil too, if you know, but if you don't know, don't let that stop you from answering!
